Menu Planning!!!

P8170005

I love menu planning. I like to wakeup early on Sunday morning and eat first breakfast and clip coupons. Then I look through the ads and flip through my magazines to find the recipes that look good to me. I have recently been using the Clean Eating meal plans to map out my breakfast, lunch, and snacks. It makes things so easy. To be honest I don’t always stick to the plan but it makes me feel good to have it there.

This is what I end up with.

Monday has been a total bust because I am having one of those days where I am lazy and just go with the flow. And David offered to take me to Santa Monica for dinner.

I wont bore you with all of my meal plans because they are a bit boring but the dinners are looking great to me. So this is what my week is shaping up to look like:

Monday: Out with David

Tuesday: Warm Chicken Sausage Salad (The Apartment Kitchen)

Wednesday: Cold Sesame Noodles (Cooking Light, September 2009, p. 88)

Thursday: Tex-Mex Sloppy Joes (Clean Eating, Sep/Oct 2009, p. 38)

Friday: Girls Night Salad

Saturday: Pork Noodle Salad (Cooking Light, September 2009, p. 78)

Sunday: Breakfast for Dinner!

I’ll let you know how it goes and how I modify the recipes. Now that I look at things I have a lot of noodles on the menu…It still looks tasty to me.

Reader Question: Do you meal plan? How often do you stick to your plan?

Trip To P-Town

I had a great time with my bff in Petaluma over the holiday weekend we ate and ate and ate. I was so happy but in the end all the food made me feel a little sick. I tried to stay as healthy as I could but still enjoy my favorites.

After a dinner out with Dad and Susan on Thursday I headed over to Nicole’s new home.
Dad and Susan
On Friday morning I woke up early and went for my run in her neighborhood and came home for a quick shake so I wouldn’t starve before she woke up. When Nicole finally woke up I was ready for breakfast. We decided to go out!!
N&E Breakfast
I had the Petaluma Eggs; basically, just poached eggs on toast with ham. Yum.

And Nicole had Huevos Rancheros.

After breakfast and poking around downtown we headed to the beach.
At the Beach
How amazing is Bodega? I just love it here.
Bodega
When we are in Bodega we always stop at Lucas Wharf

And order the calamari!!!
Calamari
Okay that is not on Weight Watchers. I must say that it was amazing we had so much fun splitting this and dipping our huge slabs of sourdough bread in the butter and wine sauce. I also think it is important to indulge every once in a while. Just a that meal of indulgence doesn’t become a week of indulgence.

How do you recover from an over indulgence?

I am constantly searching for exercise programs to keep me interested. I have been doing great with the couch to 5K running program. This is the start of week 8!! I have been jogging 25 min now we push it to 30 min!!!!! I have loved having a challenge and goal. One of the blogs that I read is hosting Summer Glow Boot Camp. I am excited to add a new challenge to my regular exercise routine. Part of the boot camp is setting goals. So these are my goals for the month.

A. 3 accomplishments that you are proud of in your life.

  1. Graduation. On May 15, 2008, I graduated from CLU with a BA in Liberal Studies with a focus in education. I felt so proud of myself. I put my mind to it and I achieved. I acutely exceeded my goals by graduating Cum Laude.
  2. Becoming the breadwinner for my family. This February my husband was laid-off from his job and now he is in Law School so I am the only worker in our little family. It feels good to be able to provide financially.
  3. Keeping my plants alive. I love my little patio I have slowly been adding plants slowly and some of them don’t make it but for the most part they are thriving and I feel so happy whenever I look outside.

B. Write down 3 goals that you want to achieve in the month of July.

  1. Run 5K nonstop. This will make me feel empowered like I can do anything.
  2. Finish Summer Glow Boot Camp. This will make me feel strong.
  3. Track my daily exercise. This will give me a clear picture of what I have accomplished.

C.  Write down ‘terminals’ for each goal.

  1. Starting 8 weeks ago and ending 7.19.09.
  2. Starting 7.1.09 and ending 7.31.09.
  3. Starting 7.1.09 and ending 7.31.09.

What are your goals for the month of July?

PS I had a great time in P-town with my BFF.

Late To The Party

But I still made it.

For the past few weeks I have been reading about Operation Beautiful. I have been intrigued but hesitant about it. Sunday morning I decided to take the next step. I’m getting involved.

The idea is not new. You put notes of affirmation on bathroom mirrors. I love the idea of leaving random acts of love.

I started by putting on my mirrors at home and on my trip up here to Northern California I put notes in bathrooms I stopped at along the way.
TJ's Bathroom
Sorry about the flash but the Trader Joe’s Bathroom was very dark.

Operation Beautiful

I think this is very important. We need to put an end to “fat talk.” I am deeply entrenched in it and am finding this new challenge very difficult. I constantly put myself down for the way I look. This is not healthy or productive.

My favorite quote from the site is, “If you wouldn’t say it out loud to a friend, why would you say it to yourself?” I think that is a very good point. I just keep telling myself that every time I slip in to self-loathing.

Check out operationbeautiful.com and let me know what you think. Are you a fat talker or do you give yourself the love and respect you deserve? Let me know, I’m interested.

I know this blog is intended to be about food and fitness but being as I’m sick I thought I would take the opportunity to introduce you to my little family.

I live with my husband, David.
Us
And our two cats, Fred and Ginger.
Fred and Ginger
Don’t mess with my man. He will take you down.
Kung Fu
Fred is also very fierce.
Fred
And don’t under estimate Ginger.Ginger

The kittens spend most of the day sleeping and then in the evening they…sleep some more. They are older cats that we accidently adopted about two years ago. David is allergic but he loves them. He loves them and me so much he is getting allergy shots. (They seem to be working quite well.)

Well that is our family. I hope this distracts from the fact that I have no recipes to share. I will be well soon. That or I’ll jump off something high. Let’s hope for the former. Type soon.
